Scene Kids/ Myspace clothing brands and Paul Griffiths

Hey guys,

Recently i have been having quite a few conversations with Daniel Finnerty, a really cool dude that loves what i am doing with Backfire and is into the direction Backfire is going.

Well we got talking about Scene kids and a certain myspace clothing brand which is now a massive company. I am in no way against this company, personally they are not my style but i respect how fast and how large the company is and has grown. With such simple designs they have found their market and have performed extremely well.

Well we got onto Paul Griffiths, the internet superstar, everyone seems to see him like marmite, you either love him or hate him. BUT i cannot put myself in either bracket, i dont think i know him well enough to judge and i believe he comes across the wrong way. When it is claimed that he is very arrogant im pretty sure he is drunk most of the time and even the best of us say crap when we are drunk so i am sure he can be forgiven. maybe in time my view of him will be changed but any publicity is good publicity and through his own publicity he has made his company MASSIVE.

Anyways me and Daniel were discussing Paul and scene kids and he was like "I FOUND PAUL IN POKEMON" and i was like woah i have got to see this and when i saw the picture i laughed my head off, it actually looks like a typical scene kid/Paul Griffiths.

Friends 2008

I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was an overview of the past year my mates and i have had, Bloody funny times and i thought the song fitted well.

You may notice my changing hair styles and that me and Dan have matching Backfire tees at some points.

New Design - Fireworks/Bonfire Night

Well, Happy November 5th Guys. Guy Fawkes night/Bonfire night/Whatever you want to call it these days.

I'm pretty sure the younger generation don't even know what today is about, well for those of you that don't know. A man called 'Guy Fawkes' tried to blow up the houses of parliment using alot of gunpowder but his plot was found out so every November 5th us Brits celebrate that his plan failed by having a big Bonfire, putting a Guy made out of newspaper on the fire and burning it. Then we let off some fireworks and have a jolly good old time.

Here is Backfire's next design which will released along with the Piggyback Tee in early December. Pre sale for these tees will begin next week. We ran out of time for the Halloween competition so anyone that orders a tee in the run up to Xmas gets entered into a prize draw to win an Xmas hamper from Backfire with lots of goodies that will arrive in time for the best day of the year!!!

This design is inspired by fireworks so today was definitely the perfect day to reveal this design. To begin with it will be released on an American Apparel Teal tee and maybe if that is popular enough then it will be released on a limited edition purple tee!!

New Design

As promised i am now revealing a new Backfire design, sorry about the hour delay for those of you expecting to see this at 8!!!!

Basically before Christmas there will be 3 new tee releases and a belt!!!

So first off here is one of the tee designs, it will go on Pre-sale from next week and will be shipped out around mid to late November along with the second design which i will be revealing later this week.

This design is different to anything else on the market and will totally make you stand out in the crowd and turn a few heads.

It's called Piggy Back, it has both a print on the front and back of the tee.

Fashion Show this weekend

This weekend is very exciting, Backfire will be doing it's first show!

It is being held at The Shop, down Jesus Lane in Cambridge near to where Route one used to be. I believe it is mostly vintage clothing, handmade clothing and accessories so Backfire will be a bit different to what else there is, Hopefully we will make a few sales, meet some nice people and have a good time.

Dan and Vicki are coming down with me on Saturday to help run the stall, hopefully we will have stickers to hand out and we will be taking email addresses down for our mailing list. The place is empty at the moment but i am assured it is being decorated Friday night/Saturday morning in time for the event that runs from 12 until 4 PM.

Today Dan and I went down to The Shop to have a peek inside, it was basically empty and looked like an art gallery. But i am very positive it will be super on the day and i must thank Milly for sorting this all out for Backfire.

After the event on Saturday we will upload pictures for those of you that are unable to come but we would love to see as many of you down there as possible.

Weekend in Nottingham

Well this Saturday i went up to Nottingham to look around the University i hope to go to next year for the second time just to get a better feel for the place. I really do love it there and feel so at home.

After looking around i went into the city centre and looked for possible shops where Backfire could be stocked. I found a few possible places, the 2 i liked the most actually turned out to be owned by the same people haha. They stocked alot of vintage clothing and accessories as well as new upcoming clothing brands such as Lazy Oaf. I will let you all know how talks with them go about having Backfire in them.

I also went in this cool bookstore, from the outside it was very plain, but when i got inside it was a completely different world, they had comic books, anime, art, models, ahh the list was endless, there were so many books i would love to have bought including one about the graphics used for the Gorillaz but it was rather expensive so i left empty handed.

When walking past the town hall/market square there was a large group of scene/emo kids just hanging about, kind of like Christ's in Cambridge but ten times the amount of kids, i just wish i had some Backfire flyers/stickers to hand out to them.

I recently have seen ads on TV suggesting Pizza Hut are changing their name to Pasta Hut, i took this as a marketing ploy and decided that they wouldnt actually do it because pizzas sell so much better than pasta, but boy was i wrong, in Nottingham they had already changed this one place to a Pasta Hut, the place was packed and people were queueing out the door, it was mental!!


Also i came across this small independent Firework/toy store, well it wasnt really toys, more sort of circus equipment stuff. It was rather worrying seeing the amount of kids coming out of there with bags of fireworks but yeah i thought it looked pretty cool and the window display reminded me of Bonfire night which is coming up soon and a new Backfire tee that i am yet to reveal to the public.


All in all a great weekend with Stoke winning yesterday, hopefully we can keep it up and stay in the premier league this season.

Long Road Freshers

Thanks to my source in the student's union at college i am pleased to announce that after a long delay, college finally has organised the Fresher's Ball!!!

I believe it will take place on November 6th at The Junction in Cambridge.

I would like to thank everyone who has made this possible, after all the drug and fighting problems at last year's event we had been banned from The Junction for life but now everyone can enjoy an amazing night.

Wow, what a weekend.

Backfire really is going worldwide, This morning woke up to a bunch of orders including one from Canada.

Backfire has finally reached the States =]

Tonight we received our first order from America, i feel that this is quite a milestone.

The past few months Backfire has been going all over Europe but now we have hit the U S Of A!!!

I thank this customer and i hope this kick starts sales from Americans.

Media Project

For the last month in media studies we have been planning, shooting and editing a music video.
We got given a song called "Riverside" by some cockney geezer called "Kid Harpoon", yeah i though, o what a delightful name haha.

Anyways we decided to shoot it in a river just down the road from my house and so far it is looking good, basically me as a tramp half naked in a river with a guitar. Lucy, Dom and Kirk directed and filmed (must give them credit).

At the moment we only have a rough cut which sucks. We used a college camera and Kirks snazzy HD camera, the rough cut only includes the college cam footage and all the good stuff was filmed on Kirk's so you will have to wait for the final video in the first week of November for the good stuff.

I'm mostly looking forwards to the behind the scenes video Kirk is putting together though, i don't think i have ever laughed so much, it really was a brilliant experience.

Kirk has also made his own rough cut so i will include both for you guys, let me know what you think and rate them on youtube.

WOW, it has been so busy for me and Backfire the last few weeks, most of all been packaging up all the orders and putting in all the extra goodies for you guys. The best bit has to be the reaction i get from customers when they find their hidden surprises.

I have so much to tell you all about, the new designs, a Backfire logo, the mega big Halloween/Bonfire night competition, what i have been up to over the summer, future plans and so so much more!!!

I have decided that anyone that comes to my door on Halloween will get free Backfire stickers/Badges and the first person of the evening will get a free Bunny tee. I bet you all wish you knew where i live hahaha.

Welcome

Hey guys,

Well finally, at last i have got the blog going.

I know it has taken what seems to be forever but so much has been going on in my life and at Backfire HQ. I have so many exciting things lined up for Backfire leading up to Christmas, i want to make all the holiday seasons extra special for my customers!!!

There is going to be a Halloween/Bonfire Night SPOOKTACULAR competition announced in the next few days, and it's going to be big, well big is a weak word, it's going to be MASSIVE. I wont go into details now but basically everyone that makes an order will be entered into the competition and they will all be fighting it out for a willy wonka style 'golden ticket' for the huge prize at the end. Of course all orders will include spooky and fun gifts for this time of year.

Also within the next week or 2 i will be revealing the next Backfire design, well i lie. I mean the next TWO Backfire designs!!

I will be using this blog to keep everyone up to date with the going ons in my life as well as Backfire, i promise my life isn't too boring so you will all have something interesting to read. I will try and update the blog daily if possible.
